The importance of everyone having access to good telecommunications is not only because of what we can do today but because of what is coming in the future (a future very close)
Today we can communicate remotely. Having a video call at work, with a distant family member or simply with our children to see that everything is fine. We can train in universities in other cities, other countries. We can work for companies around the world without leaving home. Direct projects from the other side of the world. Real-time news from anywhere. Train ourselves self-taught by consuming content from Youtube or any other platform. Consume the leisure content we choose from any platform such as Netflix. Or just let ourselves be carried away by social networks. So far it's incredible what we can do. But it's nothing for what's coming.
The companies that create content are waiting for the next generation of connections to launch everything they have already developed.
What is the metaverse? A new world of multiple possibilities. Some will improve the way we communicate. We will attend decentralised meetings as if we were all there together. Several engineers can be put together to develop the next prototype car without leaving home. But it will be more than that.
We will be able to travel without leaving home. People with reduced mobility will be able to experience the feeling of sightseeing freely. We can visit museums wherever they are as if we were there. Surgeons will be able to help their colleagues in complex operations without having to be present. Or we will attend class, lectures, speeches, without leaving our room. Not only that.
The new telecommunications will make an autonomous world possible. Where cars are able to better manage traffic problems, traffic jams, accidents. They will not only give us a more comfortable life but also safer in many aspects.
But once again I have to emphasise the problem that will mean that not all parts of the world have access to this whole new world. Different worlds will be created at different speeds and the clash between these worlds can be dangerous.
P. S. Once someone thought that producing their products in China for example could be interesting and we turned them into the labour force of the world. Today there is a lot of talent in Latin America and with the connections we have they could be very interesting for them and for Europe to relocate the services, programming, design and all the activities that can be done remotely.
Think Twice about this.
